About
The Young Scholars Society for Viking Studies is a community built for anyone curious about the Vikings! I built this society to connect with others who share the same passion.

Mission
To make Viking studies accessible to young people, not just as a hobby, but as a field worth studying seriously. We want to create opportunities to learn about Viking Studies at university that simply don’t exist elsewhere for under-18s. We hope to increase traction for the field among younger generations. You can help to keep the Vikings' legacy alive through attending talks, learning about field research, partaking in academic discussion, and a community that takes your curiosity seriously.
The Founder
Hi all! I’m Josefine, a 16-year-old with a longstanding interest in Viking Age history, runic inscriptions, Old Norse, and Norse mythology. From being read Norse myths by my Swedish father as a child to rediscovering the field a year ago, the Viking Age has always been important to me. I’m currently researching the role of women in Viking Age societies and how it compares with their portrayal in Old Norse literature — if that interests you, come and discuss it in the forum. I’ve visited runestone sites across Sweden in person, and I want to bring that same experience to everyone here. Despite having access to courses and resources, I found I was never able to discuss these topics with people my own age, which is what drove me to create this space.
